Passion and Calling

For this week I had planned a story on how I went to west virginia, and also on how I went on an epic date to the carnival… but something just didn't feel right after a short conversation I had this morning, I had to change a few things around, so today's post might not having as much adventure, but it does have more meaning.

Passion and calling

Today I saw someone post on Facebook about how scared they are that in their future they will lose passion for the things they love, someone posted back to that person saying that she would fight for what she is passionate about, so that this person could keep their passion for this thing alive in the future. This got me thinking.

Can you no longer love something you were once passionate about?  And what is the difference between being passionate about something and being called to something?  

I believe throughout our lives we become very passionate about many different things, some as big as finding a solution for world hunger, and some as small as being passionate about Johnny deep movies, these passions help drive us, they help determine who we are, and the daily choices we make, but, we may lose the spark that once drove our passions inside of us, this is normal.

  Passions are like a style, they are something that define us, but sometimes we out grow them and grow into new passions. This is not a bad thing. We are not meant to love only one thing our whole life’s, we are able to grow and have new passions, as our life goes on, it does not mean we have no feelings towards the passion we out grew, it just means we don’t have the same amount of passion as before.

The difference between passion and calling is that, passion is something that can come and go, it makes a change in your life, it is a part of you, but it is not something you still relate to in your life today, a calling is something no matter how hard you try to get away from it in your life it keeps coming back to you. You can’t get rid of a calling. A calling is something you never outgrow, it’s something embedded into your soul, it is something that has been God breathed into your genetics.

So never be scared to have many passion in your life, go out into the world, find things you are passionate about, and search for your calling, because the things we are called to in life are just as much of a part of us as we are it.
